Biography

After growing up in central Wisconsin and living in Southern California, Amy Zell attended the University of South Alabama, located in Mobile, Alabama. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting, with a secondary focus in Graphic Design. While attending the university, she was awarded an academic scholarship and recieved both “Best in Show” and an “Honorable Mention” from the Student Art Association’s 2003 juried exhibition.Zell’s Senior Thesis included large narrative paintings portraying Noah’s Ark.

Currently, Amy Zell, is a Master of Fine Art’s candidate at Louisiana Tech University, located in Ruston, Louisiana. At Louisiana Tech University’s School of Art, she is a Graduate Assistant and serves on the Gallery Committee. Zell’s current body of work, “Thyme”, incorporates traditional painting, collage, crocheting and sewing. “Thyme” will be exhibited in May, 2010 as part of the School of Art’s, Master of Fine Art’s Canditate Thesis show.

Amy Zell’s paintings have been exhibited in Louisiana and Alabama. She is a current member of the Mobile Art Association, where she was awarded “Best Mobile Scene” for “Hydraengea Garden” in 2007. Zell will recieve her Master of Fine Art’s, in Painting, in May, 2010.
